Movie Production- Conventions

In our film "Green Marathon" we believe that the best shot in our film is the over the shoulder shot when the main character was planning and talking to another character about how he is going to get into the golf course. The next great shot that we used was a close up of the guards face as he is guarding the golf course. As we focused in on the guard we used a camera pan that led to the over the shoulder shot of the main character throwing and hopping over the fence. The next shot that was used was a close up of the guards face and the main characters face after he hopped over the fence. We did a close up on the guard to show the anger that he had catching a golfer sneaking onto the course. The close up on the main character is to show the acknowledgement that he knew that the guard was there. The editing that we used when the main character was caught was great. For example when the guard caught and tackled the main character we put that cut in slow motion to really emphasize that fact that he got caught and busted for what he did. For the mise on scene that we used we made the main character really look like a golfer by wearing a pink polo shirt, khaki shorts and a golf visor. We used golf equipment as props for example the golf bag and golf clubs. For the Social group we used two young students for the main character as the golfer and we used another student to be a golf course security guard.

Movie Production- Feedback and Revisions

The feedback that we received from the class helps us see what needs to be worked on more and what is great in our film. What compliment that was given to us mostly was that our film is funny and entertaining. I'm glad that the audience feels that way because we feel as if we are on a great route. Another compliment that we received as a group is that our filming and editing is great. What was mostly said about our filming is that our camera shots are good. The over the shoulder shots when planning the break in. The close up shots on the guard and the main character when he hopped the fence were very well taken. The wide shot was also good when the main character was running from the guard. The editing that we did that class mates enjoyed was when the main character was caught by the guard and the "Wasted" edit popped up. And also classmates also said that our transitions from scene to scene were crisp and on point. Some things that we have to make a revision of is to make the video have more of a story to it because all classmates did not understand what was going on. Which means we have to re-shoot the video and when we re-shoot the video we are going to change the guards outfit to actually make him look like a guard instead of just a person that is at the park.

With the camera shot you could see the entrance to the golf course and all the holes on the course. Another great shot we took in "Green Marathon" is when the main character hopped the fence and was caught by the guard. The camera shot that we used was a close up of the main character and the guard. We used a close up on the faces to show how the guard is frustrated and how the main character was nervous. The sound that we used in the scene where the main character got caught by the guard made it sound like he got busted because that same sound is used in video games when caught by the police.

Movie Production- Scouting Location

We used this location (Celery Fields, Sarasota Florida) because it looked similar to a golf course. The side of the hill was used for our chase and a long shot looked perfect.
